THE NEED FOR ADDITIONAL INSURANCE - A MESSAGE FROM EASTERN NEW YORK YOUTH SOCCER ASSOCIATION
Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association
March 29, 2013
To all Leagues and Club Presidents:
Eastern New York is taking this opportunity to remind all it's members about the need to insure that they have taken care to provide not only a safe playing environment for all participants but to also take every precaution to guarantee the maximum liability protection for your club and its' members.
As you may know ENYYSA has insurance that provides coverage for its member leagues and clubs for sanctioned activities. It is our recommendation however; that if the member leagues or clubs are holding a special event that they take added precautions.
If a vendor is to provide any services to you, prior to your entering into an agreement with them, you receive a certificate of insurance naming the club, your league and Eastern NY Youth Soccer, as an additional insured with respect to that specific activity. Furthermore, we strongly recommend that the contract is reviewed by an attorney for its legality prior to signing.
We also recommend that the club or league considers obtaining a special event policy for their added protection. These special event policies carry a nominal cost of anywhere between, 200 to 400 dollars but they provide added protection to the club and league in the event of a major accident.
If you have any questions, please contact Jim Eleftherion, our Risk Management Director at (914) 441-2540.
Yours in soccer,
